The cutting of Vollskogen has started. On Friday, 24th of January, a Viken Skog harvester made their way from Kjerringjordet on the northern fringe of the forest towards its center. The cutting proceeds fast and as of Friday evening, large parts of the forest center are already destroyed.

Among the cut trees were several individuals above a diameter of 40cm, which Viken Skog was legally required to preserve. Tomorrow we gather once again at the Nedre Pentagonveien parking lot to go into the forest together and document the breaking of laws by Viken Skog and Opsahl Bolig.

This protest will also be a space to show our disagreement. The cutting of Vollskogen is nonsense from many perspectives. Besides the arguments made countless times, there is currently no information available on an agreement between Opsahl, NMBU and SiÅs about the use of Nedre Pentagonvei. Therefore, it is likely that Vollskogen is being cut without clarity around if and how the construction site will be operated. This would be a strategic choice by Opsahl to further pressure SiÅs and NMBU into the agreement. As several investigations by NRK around forestry have uncovered recently, these strategic choices are not exceptions but part of a capitalist system.

The gathering is open to all kinds of protest, including drinking coffee. Spread the word and see you in the forest!
